Opinion Poll: SanDisk vs DOC (DiskOnChip)

Hello all,

Just wondering about selecting hardware for our project. We are
currently evaluating two PC104 boards, one with a DOC and one with a
SanDisk. After starting to have problems with the SanDisk becoming corrupt
I wanted the opinion of other developers who have had experience with this.

Thanks
Paul

After some experiments with DOC and CompactFlash (not a SanDisk) i found,
that if possible it’s good to put your system onto DOC and use CompactFlash
as a removable data storage. DOC rarely crashed or corrupted but hard to
replace. CompactFlash is a way less stable but easy to replace.

Same experience here…updating a DOC when it is in the SBC is easy and
reliable (once you have an initial system on it). When you’re first trying
to get a boot image loaded onto the DOC it can be difficult.

San disk (or CF) is easy to get thing initially loaded, but you have to be
careful with updates. They sometimes will not get every thing committed
before you reboot…
