Installatio on SBS V5C + VME6220

I am trying to install QNX 6.2.0 on an SBS V5C (850MHz PIII, 256MB) +
VME6220 (20GB HD) combination. In fact, I seem to have done it, have
logged in as ‘root’, set network addresses, etc.

However, I have a recurring problem that a reboot hangs after the
message that it is trying to mount a qnx4 filesystem (verbose mode). I
suspect a hardware problem, but wonder if anyone else runs this
combination or otherwise has pearls of wisdom.

We are using (almost) the same hardware (V5C 850 256, but with a smaller
hard-drive). I had the same problem when trying to install 6.0C and 6.1.0 on
a V5B via a SCSI CD-ROM drive and figured the problem was hardware
somewhere. Since we were going to be using a V5C (and not the V5B), I did
not worry about it too much. My “fix” with the V5B was to start out by
installing 6.0 using the original 6.0 CD and a SCSI-boot floppy and then
upgrading bit by bit to 6.0A, 6.0B, 6.0C and then to 6.1.0.

I installed 6.2.0 on our V5C without any problems. I may have booted
the V5C with a SCSI boot floppy when I installed 6.2, but I’m not sure
(might be worth a try). Good luck

For your information, my problem turned out to be a bad SCSI interface
on the V5C. Had to send the board back to SBS for repair.
