reinstall a package from the repository?

Hello,
How does one accomplish reinstalling a package from a repository
(Specifically the CD-ROM repository)?
I need to reinstall a package but can’t find any documentation on this
feature.
Certainly, it must be possible?

TIA,
Kevin

Hi Kevin.

Can you be a little more specific of exactly what you’re trying to do? Are
you using 6.1 or 6.2? Check out the Launch menu, under Software to find one
of the installers. Point the installer at your CD-ROM (ie:
/fs/cd0/repository), and select the package(s) you want to install.

Jerry,
I am using 6.2NC, I have already installed autoconf 2.53 from the installer.
It got hosed, I want to reinstall it from the installer but the item has an
[x] and is
grayed out so it will not install.
So, that’s my dilemma…
I need to reinstall autoconf 2.53

TIA,
Kevin

Kevin, first, make sure you’re using qnxinstall, not pkg-installer.

It could be deactivated, in which case you can Activate the package.
Otherwise, you could uninstall and then re-install it. Or if it’s just one
file that got ‘hosed’, you can use pkgctl -r on the file.

Jerry,
Under the new qnxinstall for 6.2NC how can I add a repository
I’m trying to get to one of the ones from the website but it keeps launching
the older pkg-install.
Maybe it’s a matter of messing with the voyager settings??

Thanks,
Kevin

It’s true that Voyager has the information directing it to launch
pkg-installer, and you could redirect it to spawn qnxinstall. HOWEVER,
qnxinstall on 6.2.0 does not support remote repositories (ie: downloading).
You’ll have to wait for a future release, to get that functionality.
