No packages on the 6.2nc CD?

I’ve downloaded and burned the non-commercial 6.2 iso image. The CD works in
that I’ve installed 6.2 but now I can’t find any of the additional packages
that were available in 6.1 e.g. the gcc compiler.
When I bring up the installer and point it at the CD it comes up blank. When
I point the installer at the WWW repository it sees the additional packages
and I can download them. Trouble is I only have a 56k internet connection
and it will many hours to get this 6.2 to the state my old 6.1 was.
Are the additional packages no longer on the CD? I’ve had a look in the
repository directory and it looks as if they are there or am I mistaken?

Thanks
Mark

When you say “I’ve installed 6.2”, does that mean you installed all parts of
the OS? You performed the original install, then you used the QNX Software
Installer (which pops up automatically after rebooting) to install packages
for each of the supported processors? At that point, you have installed
everything on the CD, and you have gcc installed already. In 6.2, we have
packaged our system differently, so that you do not need to install
individual packages, just the large bundles as they are shown to you. Once
they are installed, they will no longer appear in your list of available
packages.

To get additional packages, you can check out the Unsupported 3rd Party CD,
available at http://www.qnx.com/developer/download/contrib

After reading your reply I thought. “That didn’t happen when I installed.”
So I had a good look around the system and found that my old 6.1 version was
still there. I wondered if some sort of conflict had happened so I
uninstalled all QNX software.
I then reinstalled the 6.2 and everything happened as you said with the
installer auto running giving me the opportunity to install the other
software. Everything is working now.
From initial experimentation 6.2 has a shed load more to offer than 6.1 did.
Geat stuff.

Thanks
Mark
