Dual boot with two QNX installed

Dear Sirs,

I’m trying to install QNX in two different partitions of the same computer
, but it doesn’t allow me.
Is it possible? How?

Thank you.
Regards.

Hi Rog

Yes, it is possible, but it isn’t easy.

QNX will by default try to automount any QNX partitions that are visible
on the boot disk. It will also decide for itself which partition is the
primary partition.

I.E.
It will boot from the selected partition, but, by default always mount the
same partition as it’s root partition. To get around this you will need
to custom generate your own boot image which specifically specifies which
partition to mount as the root partition.

I strongly suggest that you completely understand the boot process and
the mounting of partitions before you try this.

BTW, why do you want to do this? I’ll bet there is an easier way to
accomplish what you are trying to achieve.

QNX6 will only install to a partition type of 79. To install a second QNX6
partition on the same disk you must change the partition type of the
existing install to 77 or 78. Then when you go to install your second
partition the installer wont force you to delete the exiting QNX partition
to continue with the install.

Joe
