making a QNX6.3 RTOS boot/install disc...

Folks,

How do I make the files included in the 6[1].3.0-qnx6-200405141702.iso
download into a boot disc? I have used an iso extractor to extract the
files from the iso image. I believe this is the correct procedure because
it worked for installing the IDE on an Win32 host. This fails to work as a
boot disc, so…

…I have also tried copying the necessary boot files from an XP source but
this doesn’t seem to work either. The machine that I am trying to reformat
and install the QNX RTOS originally has Win98SE on it and eventually this
o/s boots after the CD fails…

Dominic.

There is a floppy image on the install CD.
If you copy the raw binary image to a floppy you should be good.

Regards,

Joe

Thanks for your response Joe, unfortunately I’ve only got the CD to boot
from: there’s no floppy on the target…

Hi,

Im not really sure what you are trying to do but perhaps I got you
right:
Your are trying to habe a bootable QNX6 CD

If you downloaded the iso Image (QNX6.3 host version not the windows
host) you can burn it to CD (e.g. with nero or cdrecord). This CD is
bootable and you can then install your system booting from it.

That’s not the correct procedure because Win32 image don’t need boot but qnx
neutrino need.
Don’t try to extract the file from iso file.
use a cd burner software(nero, blindwriter…) to burn the iso image to a
cd. this cd should be a boot disc.

Using an ISO writer to write the image to disc worked fine. Thanks to nosign and to everybody else that tried to help…
