Is there a large-drive problem with QNX 6.21NC?
The Shuttle PC SS40 (AMD Athlon) that I’ve been using
for QNX for two years had a hard drive failure, and
I had to replace the 40GB drive with an 80GB drive
because 40GB drives were unavailable.
The result is wierd. Starting from an empty drive,
I can install QNX into a new partition. The entire
install works, including the first reboot before
loading the 6.21 update packages. But after the
installation “completes successfully”, and
the system reboots, it goes into a reboot loop,
never getting past “Press ESC for .altboot”.
QNX is installed into a quarter-sized partition,
so the partition is only 20GB. So that should work.
I can boot from CD-only and read the installed
partition. I can even run chkfsys on it, and that works
fine. But the system won’t boot from the hard drive.
The hard drive is the IDE primary master. The
CD drive is the IDE primary slave. There are no
secondary drives.
This sounds like a boot loader problem. Do I need
to load GRUB, or what?

I hope you get an answer because I have the same problem. Just
Installed QNX6.21 onto a Win 98 FAT32 primary partition (12M) in
size. QNX install completes and modifies win98 boot loader, I sttart
QNX, but it lasts about 2 seconds before rebooting ??
I have a Maxtor UDMA133 160HD partition like below
1 NTFS (Win XP)
2 A5 (FreeBSD)
3 FAT32 (Win 98 and QNX)
4 Extended
5 I have multiple extended partitions running SuSe and Ubantu Linux.
Grub is in the MBR
and gives me choice of booting, If I select Win98, I then get submenu
for QNX.
Hope someone can help
I never did get that problem solved, but it may be
a bad motherboard. I’ve found files after the install
with single-bit errors. I’ll replace that whole machine.
