DVD-RAM - how to deal with a new disk

Hi NG,

I’m actually playing around with a DVD-RAM device and I wonder, how I
could initialize and mount a fresh DVD-RAM, without rebooting or
restarting devb-eide.

What I want to do is:

  1. Insert a fresh DVD-RAM

  2. ‘fdisk add -t79 -p100 /dev/cd1’

  3. Under QNX4 I’d issue ‘mount -p /dev/cd1’ here

  4. ‘dinit /dev/cd1t79’

  5. mount -t qnx /dev/cd1t79 /fs/dvdram

Is there anything I could do, to make new partitions visible (step 3)?
