High CPU utilization for some network activities!

I am running QNX 6.2 on the 486 Intel machne with SMC LAN 91C96 chipset. The
network driver is loaded with tcpip and qnet protocol at the shell priority

/sbin/io-net -d smc9000 -ptcpip -pqnet &
waitfor /dev/io-net/en0
/sbin/ifconfig en0 0.0.0.0

Having 10 machine connected to the big network on some unknown activities on
the network, high cpu utilization is observed on all machines,

what cause failure of another processes running, which are time critical.

What would be a solution to reduce cpu utilization for network process (
threads ). Is lowering the priority of io-net can help?

Any advice or solution are welcome!
