Multi Layering supported HW

What Video-HW currently supports layering? Has anybody used this,
and how well does it work?

I’m in the middle of evaluating new hardware for a future
QNX project which should use 3D and layering, and I can’t
find any usefully information about actual products supporting
these features!

Any info is appreciated!

For layering, stick with offerings from the following vendors (possibly
depending on market),
and you should be assured of future support in the near term:
Silicon Motion Lynx or Voyager (Mobile/Automotive)
Fujitsu Coral product family (primarily Automotive, but readily
available for PCI)
ATI Radeon
NEC Ravin (primarily Automotive)

For layering + 3D, the following are the most likely candidates to appear
first:

Fujitsu Coral
Silicon Motion
ATI Radeon

Will non-accelerated 3D be usable?
Will layering be available as non-accelerated
or for supported h/w only? (or is that a stupid question?)

Yes, it will fall back to software rendering.

Layering is only on supported hardware.

Our product is going to be airborne. It’s part of a new cockpit. What
would be the best choice for this kind of application?
(I.e. reliability vs. performance)
