usb in vmware

Hello,

latest vmware workstation (from 5.5.1) has problems with usb. No devices are
diplayed in the output of “usb -v”. In vmware 5.0 it worked fine.

One can use undocumented option in vmware 5.5 uhci.newCore=“FALSE” to get it
working, but nobody knows how long this option will be present in vmware.

Is the problem on qnx or vmware side?
Anyone with this problem?

Thanks, PK

It’s probably on the VMWare side I beleive, even under Windows there are
issues.

Hello,

do you have any link with description of the problem? I have searched the
web, but I have found hits with “newCore” only with connection to QNX.

Go on vmware web page, in the forum you’ll find lots of people having
problem with the USB. Personnaly under windows, my cell phone doesn’t work
I have to use the old core.

OK, so maybe they fix it…

I was “amused” with search engine on vmware support page. If I enter
“newCore” to search string, then it sometimes outputs only 1 line in a
search of last 30 days and immediately afterwards it outputs about 20 hits
in last 7 days search.
