PCIe NICs for Neutrino

Does anyone know of a PCIe NIC that works with Neutrino?

Thanks,

Kevin

For SP3 the the following PCIe chips are supported.

PCIe peripheral card:

Intel 82571EB Gigabit

We were able to purchase one of the above cards by calling the local PC
supply store. The card was branded Intel.

PCIe integrated on motherboard:

Intel 82573V Gigabit
Intel 82573E Gigabit
Intel 82573L Gigabit

The 82571EB appears to be just what we need. However, it doesn’t seem to be
in the QNX hardware list.

  • What driver does it use?

  • Since it is dual-port, how does one bring up both ports? Is it by two
instances of the driver, or does the driver know to enable both ports?

Thanks,

Kevin

I haven’t personally tested this specific device, but if the card
registers as two NICs on the PCI bus (typically the case) then one
instance of the driver should certainly pick up both ports.

Whats about Marvell Yukon GbE chips, 88E8053 for example? There are plenty of
modern motherboards with this chip integrated on them. And, some budget PCIe
NICs based on 88E8053 too.

Why don’t QSS provide the support for this NICs family? It could be as popular
and widespread as RTL8139-based 100Mbps NICS quite recently.

Igor.

FYI,

I was told by QNX that the PCIe bus is not support under QNX6. That
apparently means that unless the BIOS makes the PCIe look like a PCI
bus things will not work. My experience is that this is indeed the
case, in some PCs a card would word, in other brand/model, the same
card wouldn’t.

It was quite a shock to me, I always assumed the PCIe bus was
compatible with a PCI bus software wise. I’m told QNX is looking
into support PCIe in the future (no date was mentionned).
