Need your help!!!

Hello Everybody,

I don’t know why my Compact Flash have different volume of cylinders

which got from BIOS (978 cylinders ) and " fdisk /dev/hd0" (423 cylinders)

pls help …!!!

Thanks in advance!

Compact Flash uses the ATA/EIDE interface, so there is a Native set of values, which don’t have to any relationship to the actual Sector/Head/Cylinder geometry of the hard disk, as well as an effective set of values which can be set. Once the system is loaded, the drive is most likely read as LBA, so the values don’t matter. They can be important for booting however. I’ve never done this in QNX 6, but I’m fairly sure there are driver parameters that you can set to force the bios values.
