by using the patch attached to this posting the latest release 0.5.2 of lcdproc runs under QNX successfully. It was posted to the lcdproc mailing list already so that it should be part of the next release.

You got my curiosity. Which version of QNX? What is the interface to the LCD? Serial? Where do you get one of these?
lcdproc supports different LCD interfaces and controllers, some of the use the serial interface, some parallel port some USB (while USB is not supported on qnx due to the missing libusb).
IF you have a look at lcdproc.org you get an overview about the different display types, they are widely used, no problem to get them at you electronics dealer
