Remote Access

Noobie Alert!

Alright, so here the quick and dirty. My company has QNX running a particular piece of equipment here, and I am slowly but surely learning some things to move around. However I am interested in remotely accessing this from my house or something. Is there something out there that would allow me to access the QNX machine through Windows (XP preferred but can use another version if necessary) without having QNX. We do have an XP/QNX dual boot laptop, but there is only one of those (at insane prices no less) and more than 1 person needing to take it home to use…

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated…

Thanks!

I guess the first thing is a few questions:

What version of QNX are you running? You can each of the following - only one will work:

pidin info
sin info
tsk info

Is your machine at work on a network, or are you talking about attaching a modem and dialing in?

And no, you don’t need anything special about the machine you use to dial in/connect with - windows is ugh fine.

And there is nothing special about a dual boot machine - you can even create one with your home machine so you can run QNX there as well.

Rick…

define remote access

  1. for text: you have ssh and telnet (both free)
  2. for X: you have VNC (free)
  3. for Photon: you have Phindows (non-free)
  4. etc.

by the way where can I get PHINDOWS ?
I want to buy it, but I have browsed the web in vain.

As I remember, phindows is part of QNX6 Pro Edition. So if you have purchased a “real” QNX, you should already have phindows ;)

I don’t beleive it can be purchased separately unless you beg ;)

actually I am running a licensed phindows copy from my company. I just wanted to see if I might be given the chance to be fair and buy a new copy once I quit / am fired.
I guess I will clear the matter either with my company or with QNX and will not bother the forum with this any more.
thanks anyway
