devb-eide cause halt system

Hello Friends.

Please help me to solve problem. I have crate with HDD toshiba mk6028gal (system architecture - x86) . I try to boot from my usb flash. When bootscript reach to devb-eide then system is halt. I try to invoke devb-eide with parameters (disable dma)

devb-eide nbmstr blk automount=hd0t77 ,

but problem still unresolved.
Please help me out .

I took a look and found one thing suspicious looking. You have to hard drive controllers.
One says PATA and the other says IDE SATA.

I’m wondering if the EIDE driver is only looking at the SATA controller and giving up.
Can you get into the BIOS? Maybe there is a “compatibility” mode you need to turn on.

Since you have a USB port, I’d try hooking up a USB CD/DVD and boot off of the QNX installation disk. If that fails, then I’d contact QNX.

I try to boot from cd, but system halt also.

Is this a regular PC or some kind of embedded board with hardware on it?

Recently we tried installing 6.5 on an embedded board that has a builtin H264 decoder device attached on the PCI bus. QNX hung at devb-eide. The only way around it was to specify the exact PCI parameters where the hard drive controller is and not let devb-eide interrogate the rest of the PCI bus.

Ironically, 6.3.2 would boot with no problems. So something in newer versions of devb-eide causes the problem.

It is embedded board with hardware on it. You right about 6.3.0. I have install qnx 6.3.0. on this board. But I need 6.4.1

You’ll probably need to do a custom boot image (what our QNX rep said about installing 6.5 on the PC104 board).

By that I mean you’ll need to install 6.5 on another machine. Then create a custom .boot file where you specify the PCI parameter where the HD is located to devb-eide. That way devb-eide doesn’t try and interrogate the other hardware (which is obviously what’s going wrong).

Can you look at the BIOS for this board. Does it have an actual IDE controller on it or is it a SATA controller?

If it’s a SATA controller you’ll need to enable IDE compatible mode for devb-eide.

Also I wouldn’t use the vid=,did= options. It’s better to use the PCI index where the controller is. Of course if it’s a BIOS change to IDE compatible mode then it will likely work without any argument to devb-eide.
