I hear so many horror stories involving so many OSes
that my recommendation in these days of winmodems is:
buy a good, controller-based EXTERNAL modem &
say goodbye to most compatibility issues.
Modem speeds are not likely to increase significantly
but do get one with upgradable firmware …

Search newsgroups archives. I remember someone telling a model of PCI modem
made by USR which is real modem and it works with QNX.

Thanks, I purchased a USR 56K Faxmodem PCI (5610A Performance Modem). It
works great.

Get yourself a USR Courier V.Everything 56k external. They rock!
I’ve been using them with my QNX 4.25 server on a 16 port rocket port for
as long as they’ve been around (2 years+) and they refuse to fail.
I had issues with earlier version of QNX where init speeds were too fast for
the modems, but this is a non issue now.
