Ethernet socket problem

Hi all,
We have PC500 octagon motherboard with ethernet chip SMC9000.We have
installed QNX 4.25 on it.Everything works fine except we are getting
problems in the ethernet connection.
At the command #Socket en1
we get the message “Socket:unable to attach name:/qnx/socket”
Could anyone tell me what is the problem and how i should go about it ?

I am a newbie with qnx and would appreciate any help,

Regards,
Ankit Gupta.

From the error message, I would predict that Socket fails in
a call to qnx_name_attach. There are 2 failure modes, either
the namespace is full or the name already exists.
type the command ‘sin names’ and see if /qnx/socket is already
there. If so, are you trying to run 2 copies of Socket? (or
Socket and Socklet together).
Try ‘sin info’ and look at the “Names” field. On my machine it
is set to 100, which should be plenty. It’s unlikely that the
namespace is full unless some rogue process has gone astray.
I suppose that if nameloc isn’t running properly, then this
error could occur?
Finally, the error message could be misleading, maybe some
other error has occurred and the attach failure is just a
“symptom”.

Cheers
