QNX newbie question, please help!

Hey there! I am really excited about QNX, it looks very interesting. I
can’t wait till I can try it by downloading the version at the end of
the summer. Anyways, I was wondering if my hardware is supported, I
couldn’t find anything on the website.

Intel Celeron 500MHz

64MB Ram

i810 chipset

Sound Blaster Live Value

The 810 chipset is not supported under QNX4 or the RTP. I don’t even
think
that the 810 chipset is even VESA2.0 compliant.

The 810 chipset can be VESA2.0 compliant if the BIOS supports it.
VESA is not supported by the chipset but rather by the BIOS.

Also, aliasing the RTP as QNX6 is incorrect. Neutrino and QNX4 are not
the
same thing at all.

It is correct uname, under QRTP report QNX version 6.

It is correct uname, under QRTP report QNX version 6.

This is probably confusing to a newbie.
QNX-Neutrino 2.1 is the microkernel used in the QNX Real-Time
Platform (QNX RTP). QNX-Neutrino 2.1 is equivalent to QNX 6.00
This is what “uname -a” reports. However, QNX-Neutrino 2.1 is the
preferred name at this time. Neutrino, without QNX, is a nickname.

The QNX Real-Time Platform is a complete package of kernel, drivers,
development tools, Photon GUI and apps. It is approximately equivalent
to a distribution in Linux terms.

There is also an unsupported driver in
http://www.qnx.com/cgi-bin/dir_find.cgi?/usr/free/
that makes the SB Live! work with QNX4.
Search for ALSA2 in the qnx4 directory.

True, but it isn’t/won’t be called that… but yeah you are correct.
