Qnx - Get it free ?!?

A couple of months ago I stumbled upon QNX - something which I would
love to learn more about. Since then I have eagerly awaited the
release of the “Free for non-commercial use”-version of QNX.

Does anybody know anything about a more specific release date than
“later this summer” ??

Unfortunately mys ISP doesn’t retain messages posted in “comp.os.qnx”
for more than a week - so I don’t know if this question has been
answered before.

I have heard late sept, but I dont know if thats bull too.

A year ago I stumled into QNX, and have been waiting since.
Every month someone has heard a new date for the release, but late sept has
been the one I have heard from most people, so I’m waiting for that date.

You could register at get qnx, for a free notification, and just sit back
and relax.

Check Deja-News then. Late summer looks like september now, at least
that’s what their web-site says.

September is late summer… >

apparently we have looong summer here
we call May 1 early summer and Sept 30 late summer. Almost half year
(5months) is summer and the rest half year is fall+winter+spring.

anyway, I’d rather see RTP out late than rushing it out with lots of
bugs and less features as promised on get.qnx.com that I saw back in may.

still remember NTO2.0 was rushed out last year and Qnet was taken out.
now that a year has passed, Qnet (NTO2.1) still hasn’t been released.

Thanks to the Olympics, we are starting summer time this weekend (27th
August). Does this mean your summer has been cut short, so we can have ours
??

So as summer is now continuous, summer could be any time.

I wish… this year our summer has consisted of a couple of weeks. Mind you I wish it were 5 months.

Summer is from late June until late September… so… late summer, to me anyways, would infer August/September. But that’s just me…

If you are school age, summer is that time when school is out. School
started 14 Aug here and College starts 28 Aug.

If you are a science type, I think summer runs from 21 June - 23 Sept
plus or minus.

If you are a business, summer runs from memorial day in May to labor
day in early Sept.

If you are in the release business, the date blah always seems to be
the last date of the blah quarter. So summer implies no sooner than
30 Sept.

One of my favorite quotes is from someone describe there life somewhere
near Buffalo as having two seasons, Winter and 4th of July. If taken
to heart it would suggest that for qnx, late summer is already gone
by July 5.

I also heard of places at russia, where the people are very glad when
it is summer and that day is sunday.
Where I live, province of germany called ‘siegerland’, we recognize
summer at that rain is warmer as in winter.
I suggest someone collects the summer descriptions at this thread and
send them to h2g2.

Have a nice day

Is QNet going to be in the RTP when it is released?

Summer “holidays”, as perceived by students.

“Science” type?

At least QNX didn’t say “when it’s done”, like other companies we know…

This year that would run true yes, but actually summers in Ottawa can get quite warm.

Apparently, summer occurs when you want it to…
I’m gonna have my summer in December this year.

No laughing here. My customer in Tahiti, along with
anyone in Australia does this every year.

In Winnipeg, summer is defined as “…that period of time when
one cannot see the Sun due to mosquitos…”.

I spent some time at an iron mine in central Labrador. I was staying
at the “Two Seasons Hotel”. When asked about the hotel’s name, they
explained: “We only have two seasons here - this winter and last
winter.”. RTP will never be available there.
