I have a simple free photon application that
does temperature monitoring. Don’t tell me
what interface I’m using. Someone gave me
the code and it worked with my very generic
but also very new motherboard.
ftp to schoenbrun.com, get
pub/thermo.pax.gz

It’s really easy if you are using cPCI board from Motorola with their
hotswap controller.
It has power status too.

Thx,
Does anyone know if cpu temerture is measured by the cpu itself ? Is there a
way to optain this information ? I checked our boards they all use the LM78
but there is only 1 temperature input (System) and some other inputs for
supply voltages and fan speeds, so I can monitor all but the cpu
temperature…

I think the latest PIII and Thunderbird have a build in
thermistor.

Which board do you have? Does it have a hardware monitor chip (like the
W83781D)?
CPU temperature is usuallay meassured by a LM75 near the CPU chip, which
reports to the hardware monitor chip.
