Free QNX

Hi,

Just want to ask when …free QNX will be available for download!

Thanks

PS: anyone willing to share his/her copy of QNX OS!?!

An aside in this announcement:

http://www.qnx.com/news/pr/aug21_00-pent.html

mentioned that the real time platform would be released in September.

A recent post in QDN says they are shooting for Sept 26th.

Will the 26:th release differ from the OEM CD release I got on a workshop
the other day?

We’d like to use G4 PowerPC:s, perhaps in a SMP cluster. (When) will RTP
support that? Or do we need to buy a supplement?

Cheers, Tomas Högström

G4 PowerPC is supported by NTO, Photon 1.14, Photon 2.0 not yet. I have
never
heard of any plan (that doesn’t mean there are any) to get RTP running
on a MAC though.

I registered for a cd, is that going out same date?

Right. We don’t necessarily need to run RTP on the targets, Neutrino with
or without Photon will do. The question is: Can I compile for such
targets with RTP? The hardware is not Mac’s, it’s industrial VME and/or CPCI
G4 boards. SMP support?

At the moment no, you can’t cross develop with QRTP, you can only build x86
executable.
You need QNX4 for that. But I was told ( in a post I made a while ago) that
cross
development from QRTP was definately planned.

Just to clarify, cross development support for all our target
platforms is underway, and for most of them it’s just a matter of
getting the packages together and doing some more testing.

However, this will not be part of the free RTP CD. That will be
x86 only.

Ok. We have QNX4. Are there libraries and runtime binariers that can be
downloaded for buliding NTO PPC systems? For gcc perhaps? Or do we have
to buy Neutrino separately?

Thanks / Tom

You need to buy Neutrino development license separately.
