ATA/100 Support

The QNX Realtime Platform does not boot on computers with ATA/100 disk
drives. I have a Promise Ultra100 onboard PCI IDE controller (Asus A7V
motherboard) and QNX fails to find this when it boots.

Is this going to be fixed or does QNX only work on outdated hardware? If so,
that doesn’t say much for the product.

why use a ATA Ultra 100 considering you will only reach that speed if you have a
drive that is Ultra 100 compat. and is spinning atleast 10,000rpm to actually
produce any speed increase

The density of the data helps a lot also not just the RPM speed.

I DO have a drive that is Ultra 100 compatible. An IBM Deskstar 7200rpm
45gigger. Too bad QNX won’t work with it, though. ATA/100 has been out for a
while, I am surprised QNX doens’t have drivers for it yet.

Most ATA Ultra 100 HD have big cache (2Meg and more)

ATA100 hasn’t been out for that long at all.
The RTP doesn’t even support USB mice yet.

together fine
