Installing QNX RtP with Adaptec 2940UW

I downloaded the ISO-Image of QNX and wanted to give it a try.
Unfortunately it won’t boot from CD on my Adaptec 2940UW. I dd’ed the
install floppy image to a disk but it won’t detect my hard disks
correctly. I get the following message:
Detected SCSI aha8 controller. Scanning for devices…
Unable to start devb-aha8 blk auto=partition, cache 23k cam quiet (No
such file or directory). Will skip.

Any hints?

Martin

Same problem, switched to an IDE only system<vs 2940 HD and IDE CDROM> and
install went perfect.

Damn! That’s not an option for me. My system is SCSI-only. And I won’t
kill my OpenBSD router box.

I also have the same problem. Is there a mechanism to interrupt the automatic
installation and possibly load the driver manually with different flags?

Thank you.

It is a bitch, but QNX does have a small foot print. If you have the time,
you may want to find an old <gig IDE drive and stuff it in a system.

My son burned a CD ROM and the IDE only system was a really weak backup
computer he had laying around, something like 200 mHz processor, 2 meg video
card, 4.3 gig drive, and QNX runs like a top on it.

After jerking around for a couple of hours with the 2940, it was almost as
fast as changing the CMOS on that system to “boot from CDROM”. Up and
running about 10 minutes later.

It’s kind of nice, you may want to go over to a neighbor’s house that has an
IDE system and tell him “I have a Windows upgrade” and put it on his system
just to see it.

I haven’t tried loading the latest version yet, but I find
this situation very strange. The conference release worked
fine on my 2940UW. Could this be a problem with the later
2940UW2?
