QNX iso

did anyone else have the problem of not being able to install QNX from the
ISO, Im having a problem with it starting the install shield crashing at 99%
before it even gets to the actual installing , is it just a matter of the
download got corupted or is this a common problem, Im a little mad couse I
spent close to 5hours downloading the ISO and burned 2 cd’s with still a
no-go, I ended up downloading the 25 meg windows install only file, it
worked, (I was able to install the extra packages from the cdrom) QNX is how
I always thought linux shud be, small fast and look great
p.s. does anyone know of a AIM client for it, or maybe ICQ
also is there a mail and/or newsreader that uses Secure Password
Authentication, curently useing MSN, and they require it to get your email
and to log-on the news server

whats probably happened is curruption, you need to remember that
even as i type, that MANY people are downloading this RTP Beta
so much so, that the Tucows server got killed (so says Pat),
that should tell you something.

Hmm did the actual .ISO download fully compleate ?, or stop near the
end, if fully, then what OS/Prog did you use to write the image to the
cdwriter.

have you tryed writing at single speed to see if that produced a working
CD, have you tryed another brand of CDr ?.

if it wasn`t quite a ful download, make a copy of what you have so far
just in case, then go back and resume the download from the qnx servers,
hopefully that would solve your problem.

you can download a Photon IRC client useing the package manager,
i think i saw a AIM product, and for sure an ICQ client at our
Phoenix Developers Consortium partner site http://www.qnxstart.com,
and much more besides.

but please remember that, that site is also running slow ATM as more
and more people download the RTP and find our Phx Community site
filled with like minded people wanting to build this new community.

as a final note, i`d just like to let any new readers here that this
comp.os.qnx ng upto this public RTP release comprised mainly of
HARD CORE developers talking shop and lowleval programming,
with the odd visitor here and there.

Hay Igor, remember way back, nov 98 i think it was, were i came in here
and broke the news that amiga were at that time going to use RTP
as their base LOL, you (or was it me ?) wished for lots of developers
to create many new apps and utils, funny old world init .

(a little pottied history for the future readership)
yep, the RTP (FFPU) actually began life as a project for the amiga
(C) owners gateway at that time, Phoenix Developer Consortium was
formed to help give all the 3rd party amiga developers and current
qnx devs that wished to help, a central body that they could and
can coorinate future plans and products (plus more), amiga and
Qssl QNX became primary members of Phx, and are working with our
devs to bring you the products for the future,
did i forget anything greenboy ?.

install later tonight when I have a bit more time. I’ll let you know.

just wanted to say that i too have had some problems with the iso from
tucows

it crashes on me when i try to make the boot floopy and trying to install
from windows just locks up the system …

i did how ever get the floppy made on a second machine from the same
cd(iso) so it may be related to certain programs running in the background
of windows … although i experinced the same lock up when i tried to
install qnx from windows on this machine…

also in qnx when using the package manager it reports there are no packages
on the cd … so something screwy is going on … i suspect that either
that theres a bad iso out there and we were the unlucky ones to get it …

or maybe adaptec ez cdcreator is screwing up the image…

all i know is that ill be happy to recive my offical qnx cd

Hello!

I had the same problem with packages,
and it turned to be DMA problem with EIDE CDROM.

I solved it by booting with DMA disabled.

I had same problems when I used Windows NT to download the ISO image, it
ended up with 25Meg and I could not install application package correctly.
But I used Windows 98 machine to download it, it worked and all packages
were installed fine! I guess maybe QNXRTP does not work with NTFS…
