printing problems

Hello

Does anyone know where to get a roadmap for printer setup? QNX Docs are not
very helpful in this case.
I own an older LaserJet 4L. The system seems to recognize it - there are
entries in /var/spool/printers and /dev/printers for it. The properties file
in /var/spool/printers… and pcl.cfg in /etc/printers exist - with some
strange entries (4: Color instead of 1 : “B&W”, I miss a papersize a4
option, too)

I started the spooler with “spooler -d /dev/par1” and in a second try with
“spooler -d /dev/printers/LaserJet_4L” (why does the spooler not start
automatically ?) tried to print and - got blank pages.

How could I print from terminal window using spooler?

The spooler way seems to take a bit other philosophy than lpd/lpr.

lpd is not usable because it terminates immediately after start (there was
already a message in this group concerning that problem - without answer
until now.)

A little tool like RedHat’s printtool or so would be nice.

Roland

if for QNX 4 (!) look at the helpviewer QNX 4.2x docs (installation) or
search button for printer
