Editor(s) for QNXRTP

Hi.

I don’t want to start any wars with the ‘holy vi’ users. I very, very much
dislike ‘vi’. It belongs in a museum (like 10 years ago).

As a developer, what are my choices for Editors in the QNX RTP platform? I
had been using Vedit/Vedit Plus for QNX 4. I’m sad to see that Vedit is no
longer supported under QNXRTP.

Thanks.

You shouldn’t make statements like that then. It’s known as a troll.

Probably jed is your best bet.

There is also emacs (not from the CD), you can download it from
Andrew Thomas site (hopefully I’ll jump in to give the coordinate)

I don’t like the ‘pure’ vi. However it is sometimes the only choice on
some terminals.
But there are a couple very good ‘vi’ clones with many enhancements,
like Elvis available with QNX.
It has colors, syntax highlighting, multiple windows and buffers, HEX
and HTML view, Posix regular expressions, etc.
It has been ported for lots of OS (windows, OS/2, Linux, other Unix,
etc)
