Hmmm … ‘QNX RTOS’ seems to be a product without a real name =:-/

I’m sure you mean QNX RTP … QNX RTP is a collection of development tools,
games and WEB utilities around the newest RTOS QNX Neutrino 2.1 of the product
line from ‘QNX Software Systems Ltd.’

The history of their RTOS product line is:
QNX 2.x, QNX 4.x and QNX Neutrino 2.x

QNX2 was a UNIX like PTOS, but very proprietary one… until today it works
flawless in lots of industrial and other applications.

QNX4 is the current work horse … it is very mature and stable.
The main disadvantages of QNX4 are the lack of thread support and the limited
number of priority levels …

QNX Neutrino 2.1 has a fully preemptable kernel + thread support + SMP support +
support of different CPU families and 64 priority levels … just to mention
some details.
It is 100% POSIX conform and uses the GNU development tool chain … so it is
very easy to port applications from the rest of the UNIX/LINUX world to QNX
Neutrino + Photon 2.0 (includes Xphoton) → IMHO the biggest advantage.

QNX RTP is a operating/development platform for (embedded, high performance)
real-time applications based on QNX Neutrino2.1. It is not simply QNX …

I hope it helps to lighten the QNX jungle

No advantage in countries outside us …if the program requires text input, since non
us keyboards are
malfunctioning in all programs running under XPhoton.

You guys should have named them QNX3.11, QNX 95 and QNX 98, then people mght
understand that it is different systems

Actually this reminds me of the CFL’s lame attempt at US expansion with the
Baltimore Colts I think was there name. But then when they couldn’t use
that name they called them “The Baltimore Football Club”. Kind of the same
thing here… “the Qnx Real time platform”. I’m looking forward to see what
the next version is called  I like “QTNG” or “Qnx, the next generation”,
QNT - Qnx - New Technology… Place your votes. hehe
