Hi. For some reason, I can’t connect to the net using QNX. I d/l’d
the smaller setup, intending to get the larger using Voyager, but
it craps out on the last phase of connection. Says pppd sessions
started, then stops. Suggestions welcome.

No solution, I’m afraid, but just to let you know that I’m facing
exactly the same problem (external 33.6 modem)

Have a suggestion, disable useing scripts and use the terminal window
instead, If all you get is a blank black window then I detect a repeated
pattern of an echo problem here or a characture resolve problem that needs
some serious work. The connect window appears to close regardless of
password authentication giving a faulse sense of being connected but in
actuallity the ISP is still waiting for your user and login name.
A Black Blank terminal window will diagnose that instantly.

I read alot of similar symtoms with external modems in general, I have a
Supra shotgun external and the ascII charactures can not be read by my ISP
during log-on, But all else shakes hands well.
If there takeing inventory on external modem problems ADD THE SUPRA SHOTGUN
EXTERNAL TO THE LIST !!

Ted says…
I’ve just been informed qnx has a problem with USRobotics modems if
that’s what you have? Guess I need another modem to get online.
Damn, I just bought mine yesterday because I had a winmodem,
unbelievable…
I would like to re-iterate an obvious objective;
The QNX has a 57600 baud minimum, Comm1 and Comm2
are possabley set to a 9600 baud standard,
Masking a high speed comm port such as comm5 to the
physical address of the 9 pin comm port 1 could be the problem, once again
leading to a motherboard bios compatability issue, why don’t they drop that
minimum standard down to 9600 baud and see what happens?
