reading QNX files from Win98

Is there a utility (or some method) for reading a
file from a QNX
filesystem floppy using a Windows 98 machine?

I just purchased a Sony DMX-R100 digital
recording console that uses QNX as
its embedded OS. It writes automation files to
floppy… in what I’m
assuming is QNX 4 format.

I’d like to read and edit those automation files
(to get around an
incredibly stupid design flaw on the part of Sony
software engineers).

But I’d rather not install QNX on my laptop, if I
can avoid it.

I downloaded the QNX floppy demo, in hopes that
it’d include a shell, an
editor, and mount… but no such luck on the
shell and mount. The QNX
floppy demo doesn’t support the NIC on my laptop,
so I can’t go extending
the ram-based OS by browsing for utilities from
within the demo OS.

Might there be some Windows or DOS based utility
that would let me read a
QNX floppy? Or any other suggestions I should
follow?

(I’ve done dejanews and web searches, but haven’t
come across anything.)

Thanks much!

Before you buy.

If the floppy driver is running
Start Dosfsys and just save your files to the disk
Take disk over to Windows platform and open with a text editor of your choice.
Easiest way I can think of to do this.

is the Sony box having a fullgrown QNX with all utilities as Dosfsys ?

Unfortunately, the Sony R100 recording console does NOT have a full-
blown QNX installation on it (as far as I can tell). It certainly
doesn’t have any kind of console to speak of to allow me to enter
commands.

(It probably does have dosfsys installed on it, considering that it can
read DOS disks upon bootup (the OS updating disk for the R100 is a DOS
floppy)… but there’s no way to get to it.)

So assuming that all I can do in terms of controlling the file I/O of
this device is writing/reading automation files from/to a floppy in QNX
format, is there a way to read these QNX files on a Win98 machine?

Thanks!

Can you download and install the (free) QNX RTP? It should be able
to read the QNX4 floppies, and also the FAT16/FAT32 partition used
by Win98. Since it can see both, it should be able to copy the files
from the QNX floppy to the Win98 partition and then you can reboot
into Win98 to deal with them. Also, it doesn’t require its own
partition, but can be installed in the Win98 partition, so you
don’t even need to repartition the drive.

For getting the QNX RTP, go to get.qnx.com.

I don’t know of anything under Win98 that will read a QNX file system.
