Hi,

we’re using CNet cards without problems since years. Also with qnx boot prom.
Latest version is CN650Eplus.

Hope you can get one.

Somewhat related, but also, not :astonished:) has anyone had any problems using a
3c509 ISA card with QNX?

Thanks,

Alan

Earlier on I’ve used NE2000 compatible ISA cards – these initially the
only ones that worked reliably (now use 3com 905 PCI)

Normally only specified –i for irq and –p for i/o port.

You have to configure the card, unfortunately there were no qnx utils
for this, and then note the settings and start the driver with those.

Sometimes, I had to set jumpers (very few had this)
I would usually create a small DOS partition on my QNX drive and put
the DOS network card configuration programs on there (Can just make a
dos boot floppy with necessary utilities on it)
Or if you have win 95/98 on other partition, boot and let plug-n-pray
setup the card.

Good luck

Vince

Is this QNX4 or QRTP?

With ISA NE2000 cards, generally there is a DOS utility that will
setup the card. Some cards have a PNP mode, which I would shut off
if possible. Once you know where you card is, base port and IRQ,
you have to pass these parameters to your driver.

Actually, I’ve found with ISA NE2000 cards, you generally want
to jumper them if you can – some of the DOS setup are soft.

Also, when jumpering with some, make sure you don’t just use the
jumpers for irq/ioport/memory area, there is sometimes an additional
jumper that controls whether the card is jumper configured or software
configured – make sure you set that jumper as well.

I am on QNX RTP and the card is a ReadyLink ISA card 10MBit i suspect it to
be pnp but it is quite old also i wont be able to trace out the jumper
configuration of the card… can anybody give me some url to search from

Thanks to all for all the help

I’d agree with this except that I haven’t seen an NE2000
card with hardware jumpers for Port and Interrupt in a lonnnnnnng
time. The only jumper I have seen on a regular basis is one
that turns PnP on and off.

ok i’ll give it a shot… i will try to turn off pnp through the odd jumper
on the card and if it doens’t smoke i’ll be happy  But will somebody
please tell me why the ISA card doesn’t work with pnp turned on!! i flipped
through the qnx rtp manual but there was nothing for that… (i have a
descent background in playing with hardware using my computer but have never
come across such situation…)
