Before you buy.

I’ve purchased similar items from buy.com. I recommend getting the part
number from 3com first.

There are no QNX boot ROMs for these chips. QNX only made boot ROMs
for Arcnet, WD8003, possibly one early 3com card (3c503 maybe) and
the Ne1000/Ne2000.

You can, though, use bootp ROMs to boot QNX, and there are lots of
places to buy those.

Don’t forget that Corman makes QNX boot ROMS for some of their cards too!

I am looking for something much like the corman boot ROMS.Using bootp
requires tcpip. Does anyone know where i can find boot ROM’s similar to
the Corman Boot ROM’s for QNX 4, that don’t require tcpip and work with
the 3com 3c905B or 3c905C

As far as I know, they don’t exist. Is running TCP/IP on your boot
server a big problem? You should be able to configure it so that
it only does the minimum needed for booting.

If not, you may have to change network cards – either go with Corman’s
if you need 100 megabit, or if an NE1000/2000 clone if going 10 Megabit
is acceptable. (Hm… you could throw an NE2000 with boot rom in, for
boot purposes only, and use the faster card for everything else if you
really needed to.)
