I have added some info on Remote printing to a printer on
another network in the RTP sys admin guide work-in-progress.
You can access it from http://support.qnx.com/support/docs/

Hi,
i have been a linux user for years but linux nowadays is not that small,
powerful system it was.
I have succesfully installed QNX RTP. (not a big job)
A few newbie questions:
Is there any way to switch virtual terminals by ALT+Fxx?
ALT-CTRL-<1-9>
Is there any way to get large, fast and colored text consoles (about
120x45)?
No
(as a programmer i just can’t stand 80x25 and personally i hate X-like
windowing systems)
How can i switch from photon display to text mode terminal?
CTRL-SHIFT-BACKSPACE
Is there any chance to get gpm run on QNX, or is there any QNX
alternative ?
(it’s a cut and paste utility and mouse server for virtual consoles)
thanks,
Viktor

true, i have begun hating linux… i desperately want to wipe out linux
and install FreeBSD4.2 in its place or give the pqrtiton to qnx (its
curently installed in a file under windows)
Is there any way to switch virtual terminals by ALT+Fxx?
Ctrl+Alt+1 … ctrl+alt+8 (ie 1-8 not F1-F8)

photon guy is an exception being fast, reliable and gorgeous

u can’t … you either have text or graphics (virtual consols exist in
all of them) u can change to graphics mode by
shutdown>switch_to_text_mode from login screen

not yet

better use the graphical pterm… its way powerful than any xterm u
would have seen. configure its fonts and size and use. (with Vim and
pterm u get a formidable combination).

I mean can it be configured to be so?

Well the terminal window seemed to be a bit slow but i’ll give it another
try.
thanks,
Viktor

It’s there by default. I don’t know how to disable it

Hi Victor
Well the terminal window seemed to be a bit slow but i’ll give it another
try.
Try different fonts… esp Courier 13pt gives good performance (surely not
compared to the text console)… do not use anti-aliasing… thou shalt regret
forever . Also try disabling anti-aliasing in font server
(Start->Config->Font Server)
Enjoy
ps. Not even QNX RTP is crash proof… I dont know who is to blame… it or me
Anyway good luck and enjoy
