I just noticed that with my sound card, I can do something cool with
phrecord:
start phplay with an MP3 or MPEG.
start phrecord (mixer pops up)
unmute the master and mic volumes under playback
select master record and mic record
hit the phrecord monitor button and adjust levels
Hitting record in phrecord lets me record my voice overlayed
with the MP3 track.
Might be audio card dependent but I got a kick out of it.

Yep… realtime karaoke >
PS: What sound card do you have?
Doesn’t matter… any 16bit or better card will do(you dont need a SB Live
5.2 Platinum even a EES Solo1 will do), it is only a result of full duplex
mode… in which you can playback and record simultaneously…but at same
sampling rates… i this case the mixer is mixing the MIC and Wave
channels… thus getting you the sound that can keep thy neighbours in terror
at nights!!!
