writing a device driver

Is it simple to write a driver for a device like a DAQ board? Is the on line
documentation enough to learn who to write it or I need to buy a book (and
which)?

thanks

ps: sorry for my english

It is pretty easy under both QNX4 and QNX6. Which are you looking to use?

If you’re writing one for QNX 4, then the online documentation most likely
isn’t sufficient. If you’re writing one for QNX 6 (Neutrino/QRTP), then the
online docs are pretty reasonable.

If you want to buy a book, by all means

www.parse.com/books/index.html

There are two books there, one for QNX 4 and one for Neutrino. If you look
around the website, you’ll see the names of distributors for the books.

There are two books on: http://www.parse.com/books/index.html
Take a look. Maybe it’ll be helpfull.
I have one more question:
on www.qnx.com web site there’s dowloaddable link for free QNX Realtime
Platform. What’s it? What are the differences between QNX RTP and QNX 4.
What is this Neutrino-real time system (QNX-like) or application for
QNX?
That is: have I install QNX RTP, then install Neutrino?

If you’ll find any other sources describing making drivers please inform
me.

Best regards,
Wojtek
