QNXRTP Dialer does not work

Hi!
I have a US Robotics Sportser Voice 33.6 type
external faxmodem working fine under Windows and
QNX4. I can use it under QNXRTP with qtalk, but
the dialer does not work.
The terminal window shows the following dialog:

Opening device ‘/dev/ser1’
Initialzing modem
ATZ

ok
ATM0

Connection failed

What to do?
Is there any method connecting to my ISP without
using the dialer? Any help would be appreciated.

you can manually run ‘pppd’ to connect, but you’ll have to read a bit
about it to learn how to use it.

I have seen modems that glitch after ATZ commands - something about it
receiving the next command too soon as typed by the dialer (which you
can reproduce with qtalk if you type fast enough). try playing with
XON/XOFF and the hardware flow control settings, or configure the baud
rate to something else - or try a longer serial cable. (not sure why
that last one helps, but it can)

cheers
Lance

I could not play with XON/XOFF, because phdialer resets the settings

I have given with stty, and phdialer contains no menu to set XON/XOFF.
I simply spatched “ATZ” to “AT” in the binary code of phdialer,
and…IT WORKS!
