serious problems with phindows and phditto

Hi,

I have problems running any Xphoton applications (on QNX RTP ) remotely on
a server using both phindows and phditto. The problem is that the
application(even simple xterm) won’t get rendered on the screen!!!
It runs, but not usefully at all, since I can’t see it!!!
Is anyone aware of any solutions to this problem ??? any work-arounds ???
Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Furthermore any photon writing directly in video ram (PtOSContainer),
will not display properly via phindows/phditto. I beleive the XPhoton
emulator
does make use of this technique.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Jeff,
Well…I just use what you do without the -n option. I can see all the
graphics (side bar , other GUI apps etc). But I can’t see any background.
And of course, no X apps seems to render either.

How are you invoking phditto?

I have that problem if I don’t explicitly specify the argument
“-n /dev/photon”, I get a new photon session (big empty black
rectangle) rather than seeing what’s on the screen of my
target. My invocation is "phditto -t10.0.0.10 -n/dev/photon "

An additional issue I’m seeing is that .gif images that I imported
to my Photon application are displayed on the target’s
screen, but are not rendered on the phditto screen. The
images are set so that the cursor changes shape when
it passes over each image, and I see the cursor change
shape on the phditto screen. The image is just not rendered.

Anyone have any feel for the problem there?

This is a direct draw issue. Software is rendering directly
in the video memory ( usually for better performance). This
prevents phditto/phindows from working properly.

OK. Thanks Mario, now I can get Xapps to run on my QNX server.
But, boy is this thing slooooooooow.
I mean, QNX 4 under phindows works much better than this. Why is that ?

Hello Friends, I need information about how is tha manner that QNX
manipulate their virtual memory or in general memory… for example… what
methods is used to manipulate, for example in UNIX are used swaping,
pagination, segmentation … or how QNX assume that need virtual memory,
owing to QNX doesnt have swap…

thansk a lot
