Help on Hardware Selection for QNX4

Ladies & Gentlemens with QNX expertice.

We used to work with QNX way back in the QNX2 days and also a little bit
with QNX4.
Now, one of our customers wants us to replace an old 486 based QNX4 system
with a
more current PC.
We have visited the QNX page
http://support.qnx.com/support/hardware/qnx4/processors.html
to try to find a PC which can support QNX4 but we only find CPU
specifications here
which is not good sufficient in order for us to buy a specific machine.

Can anyone tell me which PC model from HP, IBM or others “major brands” we
could buy today in the marked place which will work with QNX4 ?

Also, please advise which;

Ethernet network card,
Tape streamer (4 GB is fine) and
8 channel Serial Communication card

of a “major brand” we should use in order to get a QNX4 system to run
properly…
If you could give me the model number details of the above also, it is fine
!!

Thanks in advance !!

Kind Regards

It shouldn’t matter a whole lot for a desktop PC. I never buy “major brand”
though.
What will be an issue is your choice in 8 channel Serial - ISA or PCI.
If you already have a ISA board then you will want to get a PIII were the
motherboard
has at least 1 ISA slot.

Also, please advise which;

Ethernet network card,

We use a NetGear FA310TX 10/100 NIC

Tape streamer (4 GB is fine) and

For IDE (Atapi) you can use the Seagate STT28000A
for SCSI - it really depends on the controller.

8 channel Serial Communication card

If you already have one, it might work depending on bus type. (see above)

of a “major brand” we should use in order to get a QNX4 system to run
properly…
