I am new to QNX. I found QNX in one of the magazine CD(PC Quest from India).
The Version is 6.0
I have been able to install it successfully. But when I tried to dial to
internet with phdialer, it initialize the modem with ATZ command and then
try to set the sound with ATM0 / ATM1. The modem does not respond and the
connection fails. I have an external USR sportster 56.6 kbps.
However, when use qtalk terminal program it dials properly. All the commands
including ATM0 / ATM1 works.
Also, could some one enlighten me on the versions available. What is the
version 4 / 4.25 / 6. The QNX website says 4.25 is the latest. what is
version 6 then and there is 6.2.

Old well known bug, I’m afraid it’s becoming to be QNX feature… but may be it’s improved in QNX
6.2… not sure.

4.25 is latest in QNX4 branch. It’s commercial RTOS for x86 only.
6.2 is the latest version in QNX6 branch. It’s based on Neutrino microkernel. There is NC (not
commercial) version for evalution/home usage as well as commercial versions SE (standard edition)
and PE (professional). Also will be soon NE (network edition) and AE (automotive edition).
If you intend to play around QNX at home I strongly recommend to download newest QNX 6.2 NC from
website.
