/dev/par2

I have additional LPT ports on PCI card. If i want to use it i have to start
those command
devc-par -p 0xd400
slay spooler // i want use it for print
spooler -d /dev/par2 &

Is there another way how to install this card? But i need something what
starts the driver only in case when the card is really in PCI slot.

note: If I have more lpt ports how can I detect which of them is printer
connected
to?

enum-devices automatically enumerates devices. Look at output of
“enum-devices -n” and decide whether you really need to start it on your own
or not.

iirc, enum-par does that. If not, then its printer dependent. You can query
printer for status (if its an HP printer, there are PJL commands that you
can refer to… details on www.hp.com)
