ISaGRAF and Tilcon

Background…
I have experience with QNX 4 in an application where we coded everything
ourselves. I’m at a different company now and would not think this company
should undertake such a development effort, and we are seeking a faster time
to market. We currently use SLC500 for control and a simple GUI user
interface we cannot add code to. We’re looking at upgrading our control.
I’ve been looking at these two products,ISaGRAF and Tilcon, that run on QNX
(and other OSs for that matter). ISaGRAF for real-time control and Tilcon
for user interface. I’d like to know. I’d like to run the user interface
on the same control platform at the real-time.

Question/Comments being solicited…

  1. How can I connect to the ISaGRAF system running on QNX from a Windows PC
that currently talks OPC to a SLC500?
  2. How can a Tilcon-only application communicate with the SLC500 for
    potential retrofit applications.
  3. Has anyone had good or bad experiences with either of these two products
(i.e. good/bad support, performance, robust, etc.)?

Thanks,

Hi Jay.

We had good experience with ISaGRAF on QNX two years ago. The product is
good and they gave us a good support when we needed.

At that time we developed our own OPC server to connect to our equipment
running ISaGRAF, but I think they already developed one. Check:

Interesting! Is it available for QNX4 or QNX6.2 ?

As far as I can see at this URL … their OPC server isn’t available for
QNX4. There is in general no support of QNX6.2 mentioned …

Our box runs ISaGRAF in QNX4.25 and talks to an OPC server in a windows
machine through TCP/IP.
Two years ago they didn’t have QNX6 support. I don’t know if it changed
nowadays…
