Is there a way to automatically display colored text in the output of my /etc/issue file?

Yes and no, if the content always gets display on the same terminal (ANSI for example) then you should be able to find the required escape code (google it). If you intend on display the messages in different type of terminal ANSI, QNX, VT100, then I don’t think that’s possible.

It will always be QNX.
