PH install

OK…here goes another…thanks to all who have been helping out.

I do not have an installation manual for PH Gui. I did however run the
install program and it seemed to start OK. After disk 3 is complete I get
a message that says to type “go” to continue or quit to about. GO does
nothing opther than say volume 3, or 4, or 5, or etc…

I looked over the install info on the on-line guides and am nowhere.

Any ideas would be great!

Thanks!

I’ve seen this before.
How fast is the system you are installing onto?
You might have to slow it down until the install is complete.
To slow it down, disable all shadow ram, caching and increase the
wait states if you can.

You might also have a corrupted floppy (disk 4). Try the install
on another system to see if it works.

Speed is NOT an issue…unless you call a p5-75 too fast. As for a 2nd
pc…good idea…if I can get my hands on one. Is it possible to make
another disk 4?

It sounds as though your tar archive/floppy could be corrupt. Try downloading
the archive from quics and give that a whirl.

To install the archive to floppy, just do:
vol -ws2 /dev/fd0 < photon.archive.tar.F

Thanks for the info…still stuck however.

I downloaded the latest QNX and Photon to my NT machine because I don’t yet
have net connectivity to the new QNX install. The QNX pc only has a floppy
drive so cd’s are out of the question at this point.

Now, I have that nice TAR file for Photon and for QNX but can’t do anything
with them. Any ideas what programs I could use to get the contents of the
tar files to a floppy? I don’t have access to LINUX or any other unix
boxes. Yes I could use Winzip or some other zip program to extract the
files (which I did) but I don’t have a useable set of files to work with.

Once again, thanks for your help!
