quics via news.qnx.com access

I used to be able to access the quics.* newgroups for read via news.qnx.com
But my Windows computer went poof and now I’m trying to reconfigure it.

I set Outlook Express for news server news.qnx.com with no account/password
required.
I pick a couple of newsgroups. But I can’t download headers today.
It worked yeaterday.
I even tried configuring it with the same account/password I use to telnet
into quics (my boss’s account)

Has anything changed at quics that would affect this?

help!

But I can’t see any of the quics newsgroups that mirror the contents of the
threads on quics seen from within “tin”.

QNX support is rewriting itself. I think they have stated in the past that
they would like to go to an all web based support (which caused a lot of
uproar from developers who depended on ftp access to updates). These
newsgroups are an experiment in that direction. You still need to log in to
qnx.com directly and use tin to post and read from quics traditional
newsgroups.

Before I went on vacation I could read (not post) quics.* newsgroups via
news.qnx.com.The same groups you access with “tin”. Now it doesn’t work
anymore. Has something changed on their end?

Ditto here; It’s a real nuisance if the only way I can access the quics
newsgroups
is via telnet & tin :frowning:

I have no specific information, but like I said, they are experimenting with
this new newsgroup server at inn.qnx.com. I assume that they are not keeping
up with the old access methods, except for tin, and that may be phased out.
There is no information on the web pages that I kind find other than the page
that lists the qdn newsgroups. The last real information I read was in the
quics newgroups through tin, about the new support directions.

Read access should be restored for QUICS through news.qnx.com

As the QDN newsgroups have had significant activity over the last few
months, we feel it is time to make the move and archive the QUICS
conferences, which will continue to be available as a reference.

So, as of next week, we will no longer be monitoring the quics.experts.*
conferences. QNX developers will enjoy unlimited read/write access to all
public QNX newsgroups, using standard newsreaders, TIN, TRN, or Vmail. To
access the following newsgroups directly, simply go to news://inn.qnx.com.

qdn.public.qnx2
qdn.public.neutrino
qdn.public.qnx4
qdn.public.photon
qdn.public.porting
qdn.public.news
qdn.public.qnxjobs
qdn.public.qnxrealtimeplatform.beta

We will, of course, continue support for ongoing threads in QUICS, but new
postings will be redirected to the QDN.

So, as of next week, we will no longer be monitoring the
quics.experts.*

We will, of course, continue support for ongoing threads in QUICS,
but new
postings will be redirected to the QDN.

Does it mean major changes in QSSL tech support policy? Previously,
the customer had comp.os.qnx, where he could share information and
exchange opinions, and quics.experts.*, for access to which he paid
his support plan fee and where he could get a guaranteed detailed
answer to his tech questions, or find the ready solutions from earlier
threads.

Will QSSL tech folks post to QDN as they did it with QUICS? If so, how
will the difference be made between th equestions of, say, guys ‘just
wondering’ and gold tech support plan customers? If not, what will be
the place to keep getting answers both comprehensive and in time?
E-Support? As QDN is procliaimed a self-supporting developers network,
as far as I understand, it won’t be the place to expect a guaranteed
answer.

Am I right? Maybe I missed something?
