quics account email & spam

Does anyone ever get anything other than spam in their quics email?
This used to be a usable tool.
Now, I think that maybe 1 out of hundreds of emails is pertinent.

I think I’ve had one spam message in my quics email box in the last
four years. What makes you so lucky?

I always got spam on my QUICS account. In fact I think I’ve got in excess of
80 spam messages saved there right now. Someone’s scanning the newsgroups and
spamming the E-Mail addresses in the posts. Bastards.

Hi Bruce,

Me too!

The problem is that you post to newsgroups (or QUICS which ports to
newsgroups).

These spamers scan the news groups for email addresses to send spam to.

I saw a post the other day where the e-mail address was listed as
REMOVE_MY_NAME@whatever.com (remove the “REMOVE_”). At first I thought that
this was silly but at least any auto scanning software will be fooled and
won’t be able to spam you.

That’s precisely the point - avoid the spam that gets generated from these
postings.

However, if you put the REMOVE_ part in the domain name, then your domain’s mail
server won’t get bogged down either (with messages for “unknown” users).

Please remove NOSPAM to reply. Thanks.
