Question about the QDN newsgroups

I’m using Outlook Express 5 from the place where I work to read the
QDN newsgroups. Several of the newsgroups show messages that
can’t be downloaded. This news group shows 24 such messages right
now. I assume that these are messages that people have posted
and then withdrew.

Is there any way to tell outlook not to show those messages as
unread in the left column of newsgroups?

What I try to do is to download everything locally so that I can do
searches for things that I want to find. And what I think it is doing
is downloading message headers but not the messages until I go to
read the message. But it will not show the header for me to delete
it.

For a better result try using Netscape Messenger it handles it better. But
here is how you do this in Outlook Express. Click on the news group you
have subscibed to in the left hand pane. Once it is highlightes, click
files then go to properties. From there go to the Synchronization tab.
Click on the “When Synchoinzing …” then select the appropriate option
for your self.

Select tools - Get next XXXX headers
I’ve set this to 1000 in my Outlook Express:
Tools->Options->Read->News->Get XXXX headers
-Paul

I’m aware of this option. it is not my problem.

I have currently selected “New Messages Only”
But I have tried the other two options. They both have severe downsides. I
guess I’m just stuck.
