Yes, it works pretty well!
(using it as a SCSI device with pax in a cron job)
One problem: when using it in a cron job and the tape reaches it’s
end, it is automatically rewinded and the next backup will overwrite
the tape from the beginning

Yes, it works.
We use it as an external, portable backup unit, SCSI connected.
