Can someone help with this problem ?
I can get a DE660 card to “apparently” network fine and transfer files from
the PC with the Dlink card to another PC without any errors. But if I try to
RECEIVE a file on the PC with the dlink Card the file is corrupted. The file
system thinks the transfer has been done OK but using “cmp //node/sourcefile
destfile” gives errors. Small files can be transferred without errors but
files above say 16K result in errors.
Any one got any ideas ?

I have seen this with ISA card when the interface between the ISA card and
the
motherboard memory is faulty. In every instance change card fix the
problem.
The problem is the checksum of the packet is checked by the NIC. So even
thought the packet is received ok, when it is copied in RAM (by DMA or other
means)
it gets corrupted.
Never seen it with PCMCIA but it would guess the card is defective.

What are you using for the transfer?
If using ftp note that some systems default to binary, and others to text. Very messy…
Always force to binary (bin)

Apparently Ray is not using FTP cause he’s doing a cmp //node/source /dest.
Actually doing a transfer via FTP should confirm my theory. FTP
is more robust because it has it’s own checksum mecanism, so
it will retry on packet that get messes up by the faulty hardware.
FLEET doesn’t have a checksum it relies on the Ethernet checksum.

You’re right Mario ftp doed work fine, its inly FLEET that fails.
A second 660 card does the same thing. I’ve seen reports of other problems
with dlink660 cards so am beginning to suspect the card may be a bit flaky.
Perhaps the JIT (Just In Time) interrupt mechanism it boasts is not just in
time enough !

Can you try the card in another machine to rule out the machine out.
