DLink DFE-530TX Ethernet card

Hi

We have been running the DFE-530TX Rev A1 card with Net.via very successfully on
a number of sites. Recently DLink have released a Rev A3 card which is all I
can get from our supplier. I cannot get Net.via to recognize this Revision. I
can find all of the perimeters of the card in show_pci -v and even if I force
these perimeters on the driver it is still not successful. Patch D seems to
indicate that this is still a “pre-release” version. So far DLink have been
very good about exchanging these cards for the Rel A1 cards. Input please?

Thanks

I have the same problem. Unfortunately DLink has changed the chipset (which
is very strange for me that the same card types differs with revision only
have totaly different chipsets).

Please post the output from ‘show_pci -v’. If D-Link have changed chipsets
on these adapters, then there is not much we can do without writing a new
driver!

Yes the chip set is different. Quite different, but the documentation is the
same leaving one to expect the exact same results. Here is the output from
nettrap showing that it recognizes the Rev A1 card:
Net.via -x0x1106 -y0x3043 -I0 -l2 &

Here is the show_pci output for the Rev A1:

Vendor ID = 1106h, VIA Technologies
Device ID = 3043h
PCI index = 0h
Class Code = 8020000h Network (Ethernet) ProgIF=0
Revision ID = 6h
Bus number = 0
Device number = 20
Function num = 0
Status Reg = 200h
Command Reg = 97h
Header type = 0h Single-function
BIST = 0h Build-in-self-test not supported
Latency Timer = 0h
Cache Line Size= 8h un-cacheable
Base Address = IO@a800h length 128 bytes MEM@e3800000h,32bit length 128
Max Lat = 152ns
Min Gnt = 118ns
PCI Int Pin = 1
PCI Int Pin = INT A
Interrupt line = 11

Here is the show_pci output for the Rev A3:

Vendor ID = 1106h, VIA Technologies
Device ID =
3065h
Class Code = 8020000h Network (Ethernet) ProgIF=0
Revision ID = 42h
Bus number = 0
Device number = 18
Function num = 0
Status Reg = 210h
Command Reg = 97h
Header type = 0h Single-function
BIST = 0h Build-in-self-test not supported
Latency Timer = 0h
Cache Line Size= 8h un-cacheable
Base Address = IO@b400h length 256 bytes MEM@e4800000h,32bit length 256
Max Lat = 8ns
Min Gnt = 3ns
PCI Int Pin = 1
PCI Int Pin = INT A
Interrupt line = 10

As I mentioned, if I start Net.via with the vendor and deviceid numbers from
show_pci, it still will not start. I have played with the other perimeters with
no success. Good luck!
