So,
Before I start a movement to get the PHY support in the Net.ether1000
driver
since the number of PCMCIA cards that are 10mb only is declining…
How big of a job is this?
a) You already spent more time responding than it would take to write the
code;
b) 6 pack;
c) Case of ???
d) Very large project, many people, hundreds of hours?
Yes, all of the above! Don’t hold your breath - it could still happen.
I realize the bandwidth isn’t going to be “up to snuff” with PCI or CardBus
but
it is getting into available cards, and 40-60 is better than 10.
Anybody else interested?

Support,
If the pcnet_cs driver was updated, it sounds as though this might be
an
AMD chip, so there is a possibility that our Net.ether2100 driver
might
work with this adapter. No promises! >
I’m hoping that someone (Hugh > > has taken a look at this and there
is
a new Net.ether1000 floating around internally since there was none
in
any of the 4.25 patches.
Sorry Jay, you are out of luck here! > > The D-Link DFE-650TX is a
10/100
ethernet adapter, which we don’t support. As a matter of fact, we
don’t
support any 10/100 PCMCIA cards. We support 10/100 CardBus adapters
though.
My apologies! Its Monday. We do support 10/100 CardBus, but only under
NTO!
Unfortunately I knew the CardBus/Nto issue… what I was hoping was since
pcnet_cs is the NE2000 Linux driver that I might get lucky >
Yes, it is like the NE2000, but it also requires PHY code to do the 10/100
switching. At present the NE2000 driver has no support for speed switching.
Is there a particular reason that QNX isn’t supporting any 10/100 PCMCIA
(16
bit) cards if they are this close to existing drivers? I’m sure a lot of
other
QNXers would love to have a 100mb PCMCIA driver that runs under QNX4.
If there is a big enough demand for this, we might consider it. The only
drawback is that the throughput at 100Mb is not that fantastic with an
ISA device. This is the reason that we concentrated on the NTO CardBus
adapters, as these are 32-bit and have much better throughput at 100Mb.
I forget… what was it that you drink >
Now, now Jay, don’t tempt me! >
